Melissa grew up near Seattle, Washington. She began dancing at the age of 8 and soon after discovered theater. She remained very active on stage within her school and community. At the age of 18, she followed her passion to New York City.
Melissa began her yoga practice with New York Yoga and completed their 200 hr program in 2010. Her background in theater and dance, have led to a deep respect of body awareness and the importance of movement. She believes that Yoga is for anyone and everyone. It is essential, not only for maintaining a strong and supple body, but for deeply connecting with the vitality of breath. Yoga offers the perfect balance of challenge and subtlety. It is both confidence building and humbling.
Melissa offers a Vinyasa style class with a focus on alignment, and the nurturing, healing quality of breath. Her classes also incorporate an Iyengar influence, along with pranayama and yoga nidra.
She is a graduate of the American Musical and Dramatic Academy.
